Special Ramadan Schedule

Ramadan is a special time for our Muslim community. We want Afghan Flame to be a source of happiness whether you choose to dine in with us or take out.

During the holy month of Ramadan, there will be a blackout period from 6:30 pm – 9 pm for dine-in only as guests will be breaking their fasts, all at the same time – at sunset.

Highlights:

  1. Please reserve ahead to ensure your spot.
  2. Regular walk-ins for dine-in are welcome during the daytime until 5 pm. We will close the dine-in section at 6:30 pm.
  3. For take-out orders, please pick up your orders before 6:30 pm.

What is Ramadan?

Ramadan is the 9th month of the Islamic Calendar, a month of fasting, prayer, and reflection celebrated by the Muslim community. It is considered to be the holiest month of the year. During Ramadan, Muslims abstain from food, drink, and other physical needs during the daylight hours, and devote themselves to prayer, charity, and spiritual reflection. The fast is broken at sunset with a meal called iftar, and before dawn each day, Muslims partake in a pre-fast meal called suhoor.

What will be served during Iftar (breaking of the fast)?

For this special month, Afghan Flame is hosting a Ramadan special daily buffet starting Thursday, March 7 including appetizers, soups, desserts, and main courses.

Can someone who’s not Muslim participate?

We welcome everyone to join us in our celebration. If you’re not Muslim, don’t worry, we would love to have you join us to experience Ramadan. Everyone is welcome!

Reservations

We recommend that you reserve your spot in advance to ensure that you get a table. Our Iftar table reservation process involves 3 steps:

  1. Call the restaurant to confirm your group size and reservation date. Staff will confirm if a table is available for your group.
  2. Staff will direct you to Complete the payment online within 30 minutes of the phone call (if the table is available). Please enter your name & phone number while booking online.
  3. Call the restaurant to confirm the receipt of your payment. Staff will reserve your table.

**Please call the restaurant before completing the online payment. Simply paying online does not secure your table as we have limited seats. Reservations can also be completed by walk-in.

Due to high demands, we can only reserve your spot up to 10 minutes after your reservation time (reservation time is 30 mins before sunset). If you’re not at our restaurant by that time, we will have to give the spot to someone who’s on the waiting list.

Kids

To ensure that children are taken care of, our buffet will include kid-friendly options.

Schedule

For reservations, community members must be present at Afghan Flame 30 minutes before sunset to secure their spots and place their orders.

Sunset:

The Athan (call to prayer) will be announced via speakers. Dates and water will be available on each table for the breaking of the fast.

5 minutes later:

We will have a dedicated area for people who want to pray. We also have a prayer room for women.

5 minutes later:

Staff will call out table numbers to line up for the buffet to ensure an orderly process. We approximate calling 3 tables at a time for an average of 15 people standing in line at any time. We will adjust the process as we assess efficiency.

Second Rounds:

Once the first round is completed for all tables, the buffet will remain open for the second round until the closure of the Iftar window period.

45 minutes later:

The Iftar window period now comes to a close: 1 hour after sunset time. The buffet will now be closed and the restaurant will transition back to normal operations.

Wait Times:

It is difficult to predict wait times. We anticipate that your table could be called within 5 mins to 35 mins after sunset time.

Refunds for Reservations:

Cancellations are refundable up to 48 hours before your reservation date by calling the restaurant. Any later cancellations will not be refundable. We understand that last-minute changes and emergencies can happen. To ensure restaurant profitability and the securing of your reservation, customers will need to accept the risk of unplanned cancellations.
